The month of April is a chance to raise awareness of the importance of the legal representation WLS provides, through generous community support, to abused and neglected children in the custody of social services. In 2020, the Child Advocacy Unit represented more than 1,500 children who were removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect and are in the custody of foster care services in Washoe County, Lyon County, Storey County, Pershing County, Humboldt County and Carson. These numbers do not include minor guardianship, aged-out youth or adoptions.
Washoe Legal Services will be planting pinwheels at the office on Arlington April 2, 2021! Donate to the cause online and plant your own Pinwheel Garden in show of solidarity at your home, office, church, school, or organization.
